Department of Biochemistry Participates in the 11th Hemophilia and Inherited Bleeding Disorders Patient Gathering

The Department of Biochemistry, in collaboration with the Hematology and Oncology Unit, Department of Pediatrics, Phramongkutklao Hospital, was honored to take part in the 11th Hemophilia and Inherited Bleeding Disorders Patient Gathering. This meaningful event served as an important platform for patient engagement, knowledge sharing, and supportive interaction among patients, families, and healthcare professionals involved in the care of individuals with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.
On this occasion, the department also contributed to the advancement of patient care innovation by promoting the use of artificial intelligence in the management of hemophilia. One of the featured innovations was the PMK Hemophilia Bot, an intelligent assistant developed to support patients in recalling important personal medical information, functioning in part as a digital patient identification and information support tool. In addition, the platform is designed to provide accessible medical information and guidance relevant to hemophilia care.
This initiative reflects the department’s continued commitment to integrating modern technology into healthcare and medical education, while also supporting patient-centered care for individuals living with chronic hematologic conditions. The Department of Biochemistry is proud to contribute to collaborative efforts that enhance both innovation and quality of care for patients with hemophilia and inherited bleeding disorders.
Department of Biochemistry Faculty Member Plays a Key Role in IMRC NextGen 2025

The Department of Biochemistry is proud to acknowledge the significant contribution of Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon, a faculty member of the department, in his role as an advisor to IMRC NextGen 2025, a subprogram under the International Medical Student Research Conference (IMRC). This initiative represents an important expansion of the IMRC platform, with the aim of creating meaningful academic opportunities for high school students to present research related to medical science and associated fields.
In 2025, IMRC NextGen was launched in a newly reimagined format for the first time, marking a major step forward in extending the spirit of academic research and scholarly exchange to younger students. The program received a very positive and wide-ranging response, reflecting strong interest in research, innovation, and early exposure to the medical sciences among high school participants.
This initiative also highlights the broader educational culture of Phramongkutklao College of Medicine, demonstrating that its medical students are capable of engaging effectively in meaningful extracurricular activities with strong faculty support and guidance. First Prize in Electronic Media Competition at the 53rd Phramongkutklao Annual Academic Conference 2025

The Department of Biochemistry proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations on the achievement of First Prize in the Electronic Media Competition, in the category of Online and Offline Electronic Media for Teaching and Research, at the 53rd Phramongkutklao Annual Academic Conference 2025.
The award-winning project, “AIMEDS” was presented by MC. Pavee Vilaschaijaroen and MC. Boonyawee Janthaphanpreecha, third-year medical students, under the academic supervision of Lt. Col. Thanakrit Vichasilp and Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon.
This innovative work represents a gamified educational model built around simulated medical cases, designed to strengthen clinical reasoning, learner engagement, and decision-making in medical education. The platform is adaptable to a variety of instructional settings, particularly hospital-based clinical scenarios, allowing learners to develop practical thinking skills through interactive and immersive learning experiences.

Department of Biochemistry Showcases Two Finalist Innovations at Learn Lab Power 2025: Soft Power Beyond AI

On 23 November 2025, the Department of Biochemistry, led by Lt. Col. Thanakrit Vichasilp and Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon, together with second- and third-year medical students, participated in Learn Lab Power 2025: Soft Power Beyond AI, held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event was organized through the collaboration of the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (Public Organization) (OKMD), Thammasat University, and alpha+ sandbox.
On this occasion, the department proudly presented two innovative projects that were selected as finalists in the Video Presentation and Pitching category, reflecting the creativity, interdisciplinary thinking, and future-oriented vision of medical students and faculty members in applying artificial intelligence to real-world healthcare challenges.

These include the Academic Exhibition in Commemoration of the 70th Birthday Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the 18th Academic Exhibition Day, Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, where the project was featured in the Selected Academic Poster Exhibition.

The Department of Biochemistry proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations on the selection of the project “ClinicaLearn AI: An Intelligent Virtual Patient Platform for Advancing Clinical Reasoning” as a finalist in the Video Presentation and Pitching category at AI BoostUp, a program operated by AI Thailand and organized by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC).
This innovative project reflects the growing potential of artificial intelligence in medical education, particularly in supporting the development of clinical reasoning through intelligent virtual patient simulation. By integrating advanced AI technologies into educational design, the platform aims to enhance students’ decision-making processes, clinical thinking, and readiness for real-world patient care.
The project was presented by Ms. Pichsinee Impitiwong, a third-year medical student, under the guidance of Lt. Col. Thanakrit Vichasilp. Integrated Biochemistry Enrichment Program for Yothinburana High School Students

The Department of Biochemistry organized an academic service activity in collaboration with Yothinburana School for upper secondary school students. The program was designed as an open academic experience to introduce students to medical education and the learning environment of medical students.
The activities included blood collection practice, laboratory investigation, and the integration of biochemical knowledge into patient care, with a special focus on thalassemia, an important and common blood disorder in Thailand. In addition to these learning experiences, the students also had the opportunity to speak with third-year medical cadet to gain insights into medical education, study approaches, and student life. This activity reflected the department’s commitment to academic outreach, inspiring young learners, and promoting a deeper understanding of biomedical science through real-world clinical application.

The Department of Biochemistry proudly participated in PCM’s Medical Experience Program 2025: PCM’s Preclinical Course with Integrative Medicine – “Diabetic Simulation-Based Learning”, held on August 14, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Chalerm Phrakiat Building, the Military Medical Simulation Center, and the Chao Fah Phetarat Building, Phramongkutklao College of Medicine.
In collaboration with PCM’s Medical Experience Program, the Department of Biochemistry played an important role in providing high school students with the opportunity to experience medical education at Phramongkutklao College of Medicine. The program included both biochemistry laboratory activities organized by the department and simulation-based learning sessions conducted by the Department of Physiology. This initiative reflected a shared commitment to inspiring future medical students and promoting active, integrative learning experiences.

The 10th Born to be Medical Cadet Camp is an annual event designed to inspire and guide aspiring medical students on their journey toward becoming military doctors. This program provides high school students with an immersive experience, allowing them to explore the life, training, and responsibilities of a military medical cadet.
Maj. Yutthana Pansuwan, serving as a department instructor, participated in the event to share valuable experiences and insights with the students, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the medical profession within the military field.

Annual Influenza Vaccination Program 2025 for PCM Personnel

The Department of Biochemistry proudly supports the 2025 Annual Influenza Vaccination Program for PCM personnel, aimed at promoting health and preventing the spread of influenza. A total of 160 vaccine doses will be administered during this event. Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon, as the Department Instructor, attended as the designated physician responsible for administering the vaccines to personnel.
Influenza vaccination is a crucial preventive measure that helps reduce infection risks, prevent complications, and strengthen herd immunity within the medical community. The Department of Biochemistry extends its gratitude to all organizers and participants for their contributions to this initiative and remains committed to enhancing the well-being of PCM personnel.
