The Department of Biochemistry, in collaboration with the Hematology and Oncology Unit, Department of Pediatrics, Phramongkutklao Hospital, was honored to take part in the 11th Hemophilia and Inherited Bleeding Disorders Patient Gathering. This meaningful event served as an important platform for patient engagement, knowledge sharing, and supportive interaction among patients, families, and healthcare professionals involved in the care of individuals with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.
On this occasion, the department also contributed to the advancement of patient care innovation by promoting the use of artificial intelligence in the management of hemophilia. One of the featured innovations was the PMK Hemophilia Bot, an intelligent assistant developed to support patients in recalling important personal medical information, functioning in part as a digital patient identification and information support tool. In addition, the platform is designed to provide accessible medical information and guidance relevant to hemophilia care.
This initiative reflects the department’s continued commitment to integrating modern technology into healthcare and medical education, while also supporting patient-centered care for individuals living with chronic hematologic conditions. Surapas Junlawakkananon, a faculty member of the department, in his role as an advisor to IMRC NextGen 2025, a subprogram under the International Medical Student Research Conference (IMRC). The Department of Biochemistry proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations on the achievement of First Prize in the Electronic Media Competition, in the category of Online and Offline Electronic Media for Teaching and Research, at the 53rd Phramongkutklao Annual Academic Conference 2025.
The award-winning project, “AIMEDS” was presented by MC. Pavee Vilaschaijaroen and MC. Boonyawee Janthaphanpreecha, third-year medical students, under the academic supervision of Lt. Col. Thanakrit Vichasilp and Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon.
This innovative work represents a gamified educational model built around simulated medical cases, designed to strengthen clinical reasoning, learner engagement, and decision-making in medical education. Surapas Junlawakkananon, together with second- and third-year medical students, participated in Learn Lab Power 2025: Soft Power Beyond AI, held from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event was organized through the collaboration of the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (Public Organization) (OKMD), Thammasat University, and alpha+ sandbox.
On this occasion, the department proudly presented two innovative projects that were selected as finalists in the Video Presentation and Pitching category, reflecting the creativity, interdisciplinary thinking, and future-oriented vision of medical students and faculty members in applying artificial intelligence to real-world healthcare challenges.

Integrated Biochemistry Enrichment Program for Yothinburana High School Students

The Department of Biochemistry organized an academic service activity in collaboration with Yothinburana School for upper secondary school students. The program was designed as an open academic experience to introduce students to medical education and the learning environment of medical students.
The activities included blood collection practice, laboratory investigation, and the integration of biochemical knowledge into patient care, with a special focus on thalassemia, an important and common blood disorder in Thailand. In addition to these learning experiences, the students also had the opportunity to speak with third-year medical cadet to gain insights into medical education, study approaches, and student life. This activity reflected the department’s commitment to academic outreach, inspiring young learners, and promoting a deeper understanding of biomedical science through real-world clinical application.

In collaboration with PCM’s Medical Experience Program, the Department of Biochemistry played an important role in providing high school students with the opportunity to experience medical education at Phramongkutklao College of Medicine. Annual Influenza Vaccination Program 2025 for PCM Personnel

A total of 160 vaccine doses will be administered during this event. Lt. Surapas Junlawakkananon, as the Department Instructor, attended as the designated physician responsible for administering the vaccines to personnel.
Influenza vaccination is a crucial preventive measure that helps reduce infection risks, prevent complications, and strengthen herd immunity within the medical community.
